Article on Entertaiment

From Middle English, from ententeen, or from Latin intertenere to hold inside, and then the prefix inter- and suffix -ent-, meaning to entertain, and the root ten, Indo-European based word for “stretch” (see TEN).
Something providing pleasure or diversion, or amusement, typically in the form of a performance: the clown at a birthday party, Broadway musicals, stadium rock concerts, solving the daily crossword puzzle, even your friends fighting over the last potato chip are all forms of entertainment. The idea of entertainment has evolved to become a broad concept that can be applied to activities ranging from the personal selection of audio, visual or theatrical entertainment for a single individual; to the organization and production of large-scale events and experiences for thousands or millions of people.
