The word entertainment is derived from the Latin intertenere, which means “to hold inside.” It can be anything affording pleasure, diversion, or amusement—for example, solving crossword puzzles, playing games, seeing a play, visiting museums, watching movies. It can also be the hospitable provision of needs and wants to please guests.
What is entertainment for one person may be considered work or an act of cruelty by another. Entertainment can have many different forms, and has the ability to transcend mediums and remain relevant over time. It is a form of communication that has the ability to transform, and to change how we view the world around us.
